Fàilte!

Welcome!

Hello, my name is Tanja and I am very happy that you found your way to my Scotland blog.

I have been fascinated with Scotland's great landscape and lovely people since my first visit in 2002 and have been returning ever since. I really enjoy to share my impressions of this beautiful country with you and I would also love to hear about your adventures in Scotland.

I was born in 1972 and - in "real life" - I have been working as an assistant for more than 20 years. I like spending time with friends, sewing and I LOVE assembling furniture - which leads to me re-arranging the rooms of our home every now and then...  :-)

I have also started learning Scottish Gaelic via a smartphone app.

I live in a small town on the northern edge of the Ruhr area with my partner who occasionally appears in my photos. He loves Scottish whisky so that also comes in very handy! :-)

As I like the English language, I decided to blog bilingually.

Most photos on this website are my own - if not, I have marked their respective owners.

Why "Tweed Delight"?

Strange name for a Scotland travel blog...

"Tweed Delight" is my variation of "sweet delight", describing a delicious sweet treat.

The River Tweed is part of the border between England and Scotland.

I particularly associate the word "tweed" with the handwoven Scottish Harris Tweed fabric made in the Outer Hebrides which I like very much.

The photo shows the cushions and table runner I made from Harris Tweed (dark part) and a very strong linen fabric I purchased from Natasha Marshall in Glasgow.
